FILTRATION PROCESS

  • Hydraulic and spring loaded forces compress the retention cap on a stack of thin grooved discs about the center spine.
  • Process stream fluids laden with suspended solids enter the filter module on a tangent.
  • Relatively large and dense particulate remains in suspension in the high energy tangential flow.
  • Fluids permeate through the compressed disc stack while solids become trapped at multiple stopping points within the disc stack matrix.
  • Trapped particulate creates a filter mat optimizing the removal and loading of finer solids.
  • Permeate exits the filter for consumption, reuse, or further treatment.

BACKFLUSHING PROCESS

  • A signal is transmitted by the automatic controller when a specific pressure differential or time interval is reached; repositioning the inlet and outlet valve to backflush mode.
  • Pressurized "backflush" water hydraulically lifts the retention cap, resulting in the separation and expansion of the disc stack.
  • Backflush water enters the tubular columns of the spine, then exits through spray nozzles focused tangentially to the curve of the discs, causing them to spin rapidly.
  • Particulates are flushed from the disc surfaces, restoring the cleaned groove channels.
  • Backflush volumes of less than 1% of process volume, heavily laden with captured solids are sent to disposal or recovery.
